Is it necessary to sanitize my baby’s equipment on a regular basis?
First and foremost, anything that is clearly stained or dirty must be cleaned! Aside from that, it is dependent on the item. The more you use something, the more it has to be cleaned and disinfected. You should also clean everything that has a high potential of getting into your baby’s mouth on a frequent basis. Teething objects and toys, for example, should be cleaned many times a day, or before and after each usage. Is there anything you shouldn’t disinfect baby equipment with?
This is a difficult question to answer. To reduce chemical exposures, many parents prefer to use natural cleaning solutions, which makes sense. What is the best way to disinfect the following?

- Fabric bouncers, car seat inserts, stroller inserts, and activity mats or baby gear made of fabric: Check the washing directions (in most cases, they’ll be written on the item or easily found on the manufacturer’s website). Most things may be laundered in the washing machine on the mild cycle.
- Plastic baby gear: Use soap and water if it’s small enough to fit in a sink. If the weather is nice, you may spray it out with soap and water outside. Otherwise, a disinfectant solution can be used to clean it down (see above). After that, wipe away any excesses with a moist cloth or paper towel.
- Baby clothes and bedding: May be washed and dried in the same manner as ordinary clothing and bedding. While some parents prefer to wash these things separately from the rest of the family’s laundry, this isn’t always essential. Of course, if there’s a code brown, you should do that part of the laundry separately.
My child spends a significant amount of time on the floor. Is it necessary to disinfect my carpets and rugs?
Definitely! This is especially crucial if you have dogs or people coming and going from the house, or if you live in an older home with lead paint. All dust, dirt, and other things fall to the ground, even where your child is playing (and where all their toys are too).
Make it a practise to clean the spaces where your child plays on a regular basis. This does not imply that you must clean every square inch of your home’s flooring: It’s crucial to focus your concentration on high-yield areas, since having a baby is a lot of work. It’s possible that the kitchen and a rug in the living room are all that’s left.
